Narrative Report in Bookkeeping Class

For the several days that I was been observing the class of III-Bookkeeping which is handled by Mr. Dennis O. Dumrique, I feel so privileged to have a chance to be one of the observers of the class.
Mr. Dennis is one of the newest and youngest teachers in PUP Laboratory High School. Nevertheless, he was able to possess the qualities and personality of a good teacher. He was able to teach well the subject to the students. Likewise, he was able to demonstrate correctly the step-by-step process that is necessary to be learned in Bookkeeping. Also, it is interesting to know that
he was able to explain clearly all the topics that he supposes to discuss. Apparently, the Bookkeeping is somewhat difficult, it requires ample time to understand fully this subject matter, but, the teacher was good enough to make the terms and processes easier to be understood—an effective teacher indeed. Moreover, I do also admire the hard work that he put every day of teaching in the class particularly when he did a practice set for the benefit of his students to avail a more affordable one. I appreciate his diligence and, blatantly, he has a deep concern with his students.
Also, I have seen that he is a good classroom manager. From the moment he entered and started the class, he assured that everything were organized especially the chairs of the students. During discussi
on, he could deliver well the discussion. He has a very clear and loud voice. In addition, he was also capable of doing tests that are properly constructed. And most of the time he was approachable and considerate that is why, perhaps, his students do not feel any hesitations in talking and asking certain things from him. He also integrated and imparted values to his class which is an exceptional characteristic the he manifested all throughout. In fact, I also enjoyed and learned from his beautiful stories.
Further, one of the strategies that he used was soci
alized recitation. Several students were answering and able to tell the correct definitions and explanations. On the other hand, there was an instance that their new lesson was quite difficult to comprehend, and the teacher was at times too fast in explaining the terminologies in merchandising the business. However, it is good to know that he was been sensitive enough to feel that the students cannot fully understand what he was saying. As a solution, he used role play as his method and he was able to make things clear through this and the students successfully understood what he intended to teach. During the role play, as far as I remember, the teacher tends to give a lot of humor in which by means of this, the class became alive and able to relate themselves. The teacher on this subject never fails to conceptualize and formulate a way that would probably make the lesson more interesting and understandable that would yield to learning. Also when the class had confusion, he repeated the topic over and over again for better assimilation of information, for the benefit of the students.

There was also an incident that the weather was not in its good condition, but albeit that fact, the class remained lively. It is interesting to note that the teacher still wore his big smile and zealously started the class. Then he reviewed again his students on their previous difficult lesson for further understanding. Upon teaching the lesson, he used the chalkboard
and whiteboard liberally, and that is a good point. He had a good blackboard presentation of his lesson. On the other hand, it was noticeable that some students in front cannot see clearly what was written on the other side of the board because of the seating arrangement. Perhaps the teacher should look on this and make some remedy to be able to unlock the difficulty that the students is having (this was also happened during recitation).

Nonetheless, his abilities, knowledge, and skills in teaching his subject matter are not questionable and he was able to practice the correct manner of teaching the subject matter. In connection to this, he is no
t only a teacher by theories and methodologies but also a teacher who could be a source of inspiration of his students. His passion in teaching predominantly made his profession a successful one.

Our critic teacher’s pre-birthday celebration with his students

I was very happy to witness such surprise for Sir Dennis' birthday. Upon watching the presentations of the students for him, I can't help but to smile a
ll throughout as if I am the one who was celebrating my birthday. Perhaps because I am anticipating the same way with my future students--not the surprise directly but the sweetness and love that comes from the students which could be considered as irreplaceable and incomparable feat for an educator--a notable experience indeed.
